Please say hello to Marisa J. Lown, owner of The Radical Cupcake! The Radical Cupcake started in 2007, but Marisa has been baking since the age of 4 and has worked in the food industry since 1998. The Radical Cupcake is a custom bakeshop dedicated to providing scratch-baked organic, allergy-friendly, vegan, earth-friendly, and rad baked goods!

What do you love about your work? We love to work with couples & clients to help them envision – and then delectably execute – the sweet & edible part of their celebration; in our opinion, the dessert is the best part! Each client brings new challenges in recipe form and a recipe is a tasty algebraic & chemical equation with certain necessary components; we know those components so well that we’re able to make appropriate, yet delicious, substitutions in order to accommodate any food allergy or dietary restriction.
What drew you to Get Hitched, Give Hope? We love working with the many other amazing businesses and volunteers that are involved with GHGH combined with the mission and dedication to helping others through charitable giving.
How are you participating in GHGH? The Radical Cupcake is the exclusive cupcake donor for the GHGH event dessert table; we’ll also be donating a $250 gift certificate (silent auction) and an awesome reusable aluminum water bottle in the fancy shmancy swag bags AND we’ll have a bistro table with some exclusive offers for GHGH attendees!

What is your favorite product or service you provide? We are particularly fond of our vegan and gluten free cakes and cupcakes! (Shh, no one can tell they are allergy-friendly!) We also love our diverse collection of vintage cake stands; the perfect foundation to any classic, retro, or modern wedding cake!
What makes your business stand out? Every item The Radical Cupcake produces is 100% custom and tailored to our client’s specific dietary needs and/or allergies. Therefore each client can be assured that their sweet wishes & desires will be impeccably executed so they can rest easy and enjoy their big day! We use the best organic, fair trade, local, and seasonal ingredients available and employ environmentally-friendly & sustainable business practices. All local vendors are hand-picked based on strict standards. The result? Baked goods that everyone can enjoy and feel fabulous about eating!
Anything else youʼd like to share with the world? We are very excited to be going mobile in 2011! We’re currently renovating a vintage Airstream trailer into a mobile bakery and will be bringing sweets to the Seattle streets next spring. And one sweet side – we’ll be established to do more on-site dessert catering for large events as well as “trailer” concessions & beverage service, perfect for any event!
