We are all about raising funds to grant wishes. That is what Get Hitched Give Hope is all about after all!
Many don’t realize that we work all year long to raise funds. From fun events like Hope Brew and other smaller drives we are always looking to grant as many wishes as we can. That’s why we have amazing ladies like Megan Keller of A Kurant Event wedding planning helping us on the fundraising team.
Interested in just what makes Megan tick? Check out our team interview below! What do you do for GHGH and how long have you been involved? This is my second year on the team, and this year I am a proud inaugural member of the fundraising team, planning ancillary events that raise money for our fabulous charities all year long, supplementing our big event in the Fall. What brought you to GHGH? I’m just blown away by how much good GHGH has been able to do, and I feel very proud of the wedding industry in Seattle for coming together to do such amazing things. My background is in fundraising for organizations like Seattle Children’s and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, so I feel it’s very important to give back to the community where we work and live, and GHGH has found a way to not only do this successfully but really “swankily” as well! What is your favorite part of your experience with GHGH?
Getting to see the members of those charities we support speak at our annual event. It reminds us all what the hard work champagne is all about.
What is your favorite part of the wedding industry? Being a part of someone’s major life event: we meet as strangers but often part as dear friends after working together toward such an amazing and momentous day.
You own :: A Kurant Event, an event planning company in Seattle. What drew you to your job? I started down this path with a sick obsession for details, list-making, and planning. Those attributes, coupled with my love of celebrations, seemed to me like a natural calling. With a background in non-profit fundraising, my aspirations have always been to work in the event industry – but after getting my feet wet in the wedding industry, I was hooked. photo credit: Garrett Grove

Get the big things settled early – book your venue so that you can secure a date and your main vendors (photographers, planners, etc.) and create a realistic budget to follow
Tell us the most unique thing you saw at a wedding / were asked to do for a wedding?
One of the most outrageous weddings I had the opportunity to plan with a bride included all guests dressed in 80’s costumes and offered unlimited entertainment all evening including vintage 80’s arcade games, an aerial performance, a drag queen host that also performed burlesque routine, a roving magician, and an live 80’s band!
Are you married? And if you are, what was your favorite part of your wedding or what would you have done differently? Not married! What color shoes do you plan to wear to this year’s event? I’m going with either super loud heels and a fairly demure dress, or with simple black heels with a show-stopping dress
