So yesterday we heard from the glamorous Laura Cassidy of Seattle Metropolitan on what the ladies should wear- today we talked with Jesse & Travis of True Colors Events so they could give advice for the boys on what they should wear for the big event.  These boys really know how to dress – no matter what day it is, they-look-good!

Here is what they had to say:

Travis and I are really looking forward to Get Hitched Give Hope.  Not only is it a great a great party with a chance to get wonderful items for your wedding, but it is also an incredible cause.  Having a grandmother who is a breast cancer survivor, the event is especially close to my heart.

For us, one of the fun parts of a night out is getting dressed up, but we understand that it’s not necessarily a source of joy for many men out there.  But getting dressed up can be a simple task.  Every man should own a great suit they can throw on for a big event.  Here in Seattle there are some amazing retailers with a wealth of knowledge who can help you dress to impress.  Kent at Butch Blum has dressed many of our grooms for their wedding days and beyond.  At Luly Yang, not only can you have a one-of-a-kind custom suit made, but in their men’s section, nicknamed the library, Lisa and Sarah can also assist in finding the perfect ties, pocket squares, and cufflinks to finish a formal look.

Those looking for a more budget friendly option can consider checking out the racks at the appropriately named Nordstrom Rack, or even suit separates from Calvin Klein or DKNY at Macy’s.  Do you have a suit that is collecting dust in the back of the closet?  Maybe for just a few dollars it can be updated to fit just right.  You don’t have to spend a fortune on a suit; as long as it fits great, you will look sharp!  One of our favorite alteration specialists is Pauline with A Perfect Fit in Ballard.

The color pink is associated with breast cancer awareness, so Travis and I both plan on wearing pink ties to the event.  Many men are nervous about wearing the color pink, but remember that there are many shades of pink, from pale to hot.  One can even wear a tie that has just a touch of pink in it, such as a navy tie with a pink stripe, or a chocolate tie with a pink polka dot.

If you are in the corporate world and wear a suit to work, it may or may not transition into evening wear.  Consider dressing it up with a pocket square.  A woman may dress up her daytime attire by switching out her accessories, so it’s kind of the same idea.  Many men have to dress conservatively at their place of work, but by simply changing your tie you can change your look.  The right bold statement making tie is always a great way to get noticed and make an impression.  Another trend is to go skinny!  Try a solid or tone-on-tone tie with a simple pattern and add a tie clip ala Mad Men and you are sure to impress.

Whether you go big and bold or skinny and dapper, you are certain to shine on October 29th at Get Hitched Give Hope, because nothing looks better than doing the right thing.
