You know that Get Hitched, Give Hope is a fund-raiser for the Making Memories Foundation. You know that these funds help fulfill the dreams of breast cancer patients who probably will not survive to benefit from a cure. But, how much do you really know about breast cancer? If you would like to better understand this disease, the National Breast Cancer Foundation has an excellent website and online resources. Look in the ‘About Breast Cancer‘ section to learn about the Signs & Symptoms, Types, Stages, Myths of breast cancer, and more!

Charity events don’t have to be huge to have an impact.  Here is one homegrown, local benefit for colon cancer that promises to be a great evening of music and memories.  Cowboys With Attitude!  Friday, April 30 at Traditions Cafe in Olympia.

Check out this fun Valentine’s Day event to benefit the Making Memories Foundation!  24 Weddings In 24 Hours — wow!!

Instead of spending 20 bones on cupcakes for silly self-enjoyment and an irrelevant-to-real-life Cupcake Thursday shoot/post, Lily and I decided to do something a bit more worthwhile and meaningful.

We’re going to donate it to the “We Heart Sharlane” fund instead.  How about you, do you have $20 to spare? Let me make it REAL easy for you: http://weheartsharlane.showitsite.com

Sharlane Chase has been a non-stop super generous supporter of Get Hitched Give Hope – since the beginning of time.  Our hearts burst with love for this lady!  (and her cute little Anna-Bean)

If you haven’t already heard – we are holding an auction in her honor to raise money to help pay for the medical bills.  (darn those health care costs)  So – grab those pens (checkbooks too!) mark your calendar and meet us at the Herban Feast Sodo Park venue on February 4th and buy some art!!  There will actually be a TON of things for sale, art, jewelry, services, products, lunch, dinner, drinks – EVERYTHING.

Visit the website for more info – but here is the information to post and re-post, email, print and SHARE with everyone you know!  =)

Thank you for your love and support of our good buddy!

Shar

WE HEART SHARLANE

What: A Fundraising Auction
Where: Herban Feast @ Sodo Park | 3200 1st Avenue South, Seattle, WA. 98134
When: Thursday Feb 4th 2010 | 7-10pm
Who: EVERYONE! Please forward this email on to family, friends, brides to be or anyone that you think would be interested in supporting this amazing cause!

Sharlane is a Mother, a photographer, and our friend. This year began like a fairy tale; complete with a magical proposal from the man she loves. Like too many fairy tales, this one turned dark as Sharlane was diagnosed with Cancer even before the wedding planning could begin. The diagnosis itself is scary enough, but so are the crushing costs associated. This is our attempt to help our friend, who has helped so many others herself.

The benefit we are throwing is all about love, life, laughter and Art. We are so excited about the donated items, and know that even if you don’t know Sharlane you can find something amazing to spend your money on for a Valentine’s Day gift. In addition to buying something über cool and impressing your friends, you will also receive that warm fuzzy feeling from helping an amazing person.

You can help Sharlene in four (4) easy ways:
·       Donate money (it’s PayPal — too easy!): http://weheartsharlane.showitsite.com/#/help/
·       Donate an item (great way to gain exposure and showcase your work for an amazing cause): helpsharlane@gmail.com
·       Bid on a silent auction item on Feb 4th (Check out the list of amazing goods): http://weheartsharlane.showitsite.com/#/what-to-expect/
·       Spread the word! Please pass this invitation along on facebook, twitter and email!

Thanks for the support! Any questions, call Ashley 206-353-2992 or email at helpsharlane@gmail.com

Cheers,

Greetings,

As you know, there is severe devastation in Haiti right now in the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake that hit the island. This is a tragedy not only for the people in Haiti but also for those around the world that have family and friends there. One of our own is just such a person.

David, my good friend and the owner of Lucid Jazz Lounge in Seattle, has family in Haiti. He is leaving tomorrow to go down there to help out in any way that he can. The Seattle jazz community has rallied around him at this difficult time, and we are doing everything we can to help. Here’s two ways you can help:

  1. Come to Lucid TONIGHT with any kind of donation you can. We will be accepting cash and check donations of any amount and will deposit them directly into David bank account in the morning so that by the time he arrives in Haiti the funds will have cleared.
  2. I will be donating 100% of all sales of my CDs directly to David from now through the end of next week. This way you can donate and get some great music! Do so by visiting oneworkingmusician.com/my-music

This is the most direct way you can help out, as all money will be given to those who need it the most by David himself. When he gets there he plans to buy water, first aid supplies, anything that will help.
I hope you’ll consider donating in any way that you can.

Cheers,
Jason

I had the pleasure of meeting Phil Holden of Phil Holden Photography & Jennifer Mobley of Pinup Salon at a party last year – we ran into each other this past week at BNI and I heard about their amazing charity project.  Its called Passionately Pink – a boudoir photography fundraiser benefiting the Susan G. Koman charity.  Here is all the information below – I can’t wait to see the photos!!

Passionately-Pink-Poster-Print-small_thumb

On Thursday October 15th the Girl Power Hour was held at Duque Salon in Ballard (a new favorite of ours for sure!) – each month they feature businesses & charities and it is a fabulous way for women in all walks of life to network (in a fun way), get out of the house/office meet some new people, discover some new hidden place and best of all – to learn about a local charity.

This month was the COOLEST month – because it was the Pink event and it is the Pink month – a month of awareness for the breasts and their health they featured Get Hitched Give Hope – the SWANKIEST coolest way to plan your wedding – at a party in town!!

For those of you who don’t know – Get Hitched Give Hope is a 501c3 charity – we host an annual event where we find the top vendors in Seattle, auction off their services & products and all the money raised goes to the Making Memories Breast Cancer foundation where they grant the wishes of women in stage for breast cancer.  For some the cure won’t come soon enough – so we help them celebrate life and create happy memories during hard times that will stay with the family forever.

Renata was the featured photographer that evening and wanted to share them with you so you could see how much fun it was!!

Hans Rasmussen is not only the BEST (and most honest) insurance agent out there – but he is a GIVER too!!  =0)  He was a big help at the first Get Hitched Give Hope event and is playing an even bigger role this year!!

He has agreed to donate $5 to our organization for each person who calls him to get a quote!!  This call could save you money on your insurance, and if it doesn’t – no worries, stick with the insurance you have AND you’ll be helping to grant wishes!!
